The WVU Pre-Health Office is excited to offer the Application Prep Program for students applying to graduate health professional programs (e.g., Medicine, Dentistry, PT, OT, PA, Optometry, Veterinary Medicine, Orthotics & Prosthetics, Pharmacy, and more) in the upcoming application cycle.
This program supports students through self-assessment, application preparation, and interview practice. Participants will submit a GPA calculator, mock application, and personal statement for review. The Pre-Health Office will provide feedback on all materials and schedule a mock interview.
As part of the program, we also offer the Pre-Health Office Letter Packet Service. Created after the discontinuation of the Committee Letter, the Letter Packet is available to applicants to Medical, Dental, and Optometry schools. Students must complete the Application Prep Program to receive a Letter Packet.
Each WVU Pre-Health Letter Packet includes:
A cover letter describing our process
At least three individual letters of recommendation, which may include:
Science faculty who taught you
A clinician who has observed you clinically
An individual who can speak to your interpersonal competencies (advisor, non-science faculty, employer, organization advisor, etc.)
An optional additional letter
Be sure to check the specific letter requirements for your programs.
Applicants to AT, OT, PT, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, and other programs do not need a Letter Packet; recommenders should submit letters directly to the application service or program.
Please note: The Letter Packet is not a Committee Letter and does not evaluate or endorse the applicant.
If you previously received a WVU Pre-Health Letter Packet and plan to apply in the 2026 cycle, you must complete the Application Prep Program again and request new individual letters (from the same or new writers).
